c) Label each strip with the name of its location Leave the strips there for a week.
d) Collect all the strips after a week and place them over a white sheet of paper for close examination with a magnifier.

Q. 4. Collect 4” pieces of five different types of fabrics (cotton, jute, nylon, silk & wool) Now try the following steps with each sample and note down the observations on a chart.

a) Touch : Feel the cloth with your hands. Feel whether it is soft or rough to touch.

b) Absorption capacity : Take a dropper and pour 5 drops of water on each sample and notice which sample absorbs water immediately.

c) Evaporation of water : Keep the wet fabric cuttings in the sun for the same duration. You will notice that water evaporates faster in some sample.

1. Make a calendar based on 6 authors or poets from any of the following countries (see fig A)

3. Prepare a wall hanging based on ‘My Mother’ (See fig B)

· There must be four panels joined together with string or wool to enable the project to hang on a wall with ease. Refer to the illustration for more clarity.
· Each panel must be made from an A4 sized pastel sheet.
· The first panel should comprise a photograph of your mother.
· The second panel should consists of a self composed poem or a letter dedicated to your mother.
· The third panel must contain a list ‘The things my mother does for me’
· The fourth panel should have a list of ‘Things I do for my mother’ .
· All panels must be decorated well.

4. Make strips of five proverbs and five quotations (ten in all) to mount on display boards.

· The quotations and proverbs must be handwritten.
· A full sized pastel chart must be cut into three parts horizontally in order to obtain three strips (3-4 full sized pastel charts will be required for this assignment)
· The strips must be large enough to mount on class boards.
· The quotations and proverbs should be illustrated appropriately.
· The strips must be given beautiful borders.

5. Prepare a power point presentation based on the poem ‘The Daffodils’ by William words worth given in your text book.

· In order to submit this assignment :
a) An e-mail should be sent to the subject teacher and

a) A title slide with the name of the poem and poet.
b) One or two slides based on the poet’s career, his life span, two examples of his work and his picture.
c) The text of the poem must be written on the slides line by line. This text should be accompanied by corresponding images.
d) The meanings of new words encountered in the poem should be illustrated with images.
e) A minimum of 15 slides must be made.

· Work must be done on a full sized pastel chart.
· One column on the chart should contain five idioms.
